"She's pretty perfect!"

Layla was found at a steel mill under a large pile of steel. One of the volunteers from the k9.5 Rescue went out to get Layla and soon realized that she was injured. Layla couldn’t put any weight on one of her legs, while the other one was constantly trembling.

Without delay, the volunteers rushed Layla to the ER. It was discovered that one of her hips was entirely dislocated, causing unbearable pain and hindering her ability to walk.

Upon tracking down Layla’s owner, he admitted that he could no longer care for her due to personal circumstances that were taking him out of the country. He surrendered Layla to k9.5 Rescue and assured them that she was extraordinarily sweet and well-behaved, getting along with humans and other dogs alike – she just wasn’t fond of cats!

Layla proved to be a brave and resilient patient, tolerating all the medical tests and treatments without a single complaint.

"She's a gem and loves everybody!"

In the beginning, Layla spent her days snuggled up in a warm, cozy blanket while taking pain medication. The pain was too intense for her to do anything else, and she needed to rest to heal.

But despite her discomfort, Layla’s sweet and social nature shone through. She quickly settled into her foster home, and met her furry siblings gently and patiently.

Thanks to the k9.5 Rescue, Layla was given a second chance at life and was spared from the unthinkable fate of euthanasia. But her journey to recovery was far from over. She needed surgery to repair her injury and prevent further complications.

The kind-hearted help of TagsforHope supporters like you, we were able to help fund Layla’s much needed surgery.

Despite the six-week long recovery period ahead, this playful and affectionate girl is now pain-free and ready to embark on her journey towards finding a forever family.
