"The truck just kept going"
This sweet pup, now known as Freya, was picked up by a good samaritan who witnessed her fall out of the back of a truck. The truck just kept going.
He picked her up and rushed Freya to the hospital in hopes to save her broken leg – and her life. The Western College of Veterinary Medicine was able to identify the dog and reach out to her owners, informing them of the situation. Unfortunately, they chose to surrender her as they simply could not afford the cost of her care.
Freya had a broken femur and required pins to be placed to save her leg and give her another chance at a proper life. The staff and students at the College were determined to save Freya’s life but didn’t know how it would be possible. That’s when they reached out to New Hope Dog Rescue.
The staff at New Hope immediately sent out messages to their foster families – sadly, without their help, Freya would have to be euthanized.

The student who worked on Freya’s case reached out to the staff at New Hope and said they had to come down and meet this dog.
And she was right, because Freya was an absolutely wonderful soul. It was clear this dog absolutely loved life! There was no way they were going to let her suffer and be euthanized simply because nobody could take her in right away.
Luckily, a foster did become available soon after! Even knowing Freya would be needing 6-12 weeks of recovery and rehabilitation, they picked her up from the hospital and gave her a chance.
Freya is now living a very good life! She brings so much joy to everyone she meets and gets regular exercise under strict supervision of her foster mom. She had pins placed to keep her femur intact and her clinic is very happy with her progress.
