Ivy is a four year old Great Pyrenees mix that captured everyone’s heart. Through no fault of her own, this brave young mom had a rough start in life. She and her 7 two-day old puppies found themselves at an overcrowded shelter in Houston.
Born into a tough situation, the pups faced health challenges and, despite tireless efforts of everyone involved, only three survived.
Thanks to the dedication of the compassionate volunteers at Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue, Ivy and her surviving trio were brought into the warmth of a foster home. Weighing just over 60lbs, Ivy was frail and malnourished but she selflessly nursed her puppies back to health.
Ivy is a sweet and playful girl who loves to chew on toys and to dig in the yard. She is doing really well in her foster home and everyone she meets simply loves her! And thanks to her love and the foster’s unwavering care, Ivy’s puppies are thriving, growing and learning each day.

But Ivy’s story doesn’t end here. Despite overcoming immense odds, this remarkable mama was facing her own health challenges.
She needed FHO surgery for her hip dysplasia and had to be spayed as well. After undergoing surgery, Ivy began her lengthy pas to recovery. Her strength and her loving spirit throughout the entire process is truly inspiring.
This sweet girl is on her way to starting her new happy and healthy life!
Ivy will spend about 6 weeks recovering, surrounded by the warm and attentive care of her foster family. Once she is healed, she will be available for adoption through the Great Pyrs & Paws Rescue.
Together with the foster family, the volunteers and the compassion of TagsforHope supporters like you Ivy and her pups were able to recover and live a long and joyous life!
