"Lemmie was found as a stray..."

Lemmie is a Beagle mix who was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. He was estimated to be between 8 and 12 years old due to his malnourished body and extremely poor dental condition.

An Underdog volunteer foster saw a video of this shaking, terrified Beagle mix. California shelters are notoriously overcrowded, compared to other states, and senior pups with health issues are especially vulnerable to being put on the euthanasia list. Just the thought of Lemmie spending his final days as an overcrowded shelter was enough to inspire her to foster him.

Once Lemmie joined the foster home, he practically transformed overnight. He loves going for walks and sleeps with his foster siblings for comfort and cuddles. And, even though he is still extremely frail, he now has a pep in his step!

"He now has a chance to find a home full of stability and love!"

It seems that his whole life Lemmie has been tossed aside as trash and now that he is a senior dog, he wouldn’t stand a chance without dedicated volunteers and fosters.

Lemmie’s condition is poor, but it is manageable and, with time and a little bit of TLC, he will make a full recovery. He may be as young as 8 years old and his general health is okay.

Mostly he needs extensive dental work, as all of his teeth need to be extracted and he needs gum work. He also has to have a tumour removed in one testicle. All of his procedures are costly, but low risk and Lemmie sure deserves the investment!

It is hard to tell what the future holds for Lemmie, but through his foster family he is at least getting the care he needs.

All he has known so far is a life of neglect, but now thanks to the generous support of TagsforHope customers like you, he now has a chance to find a home full of stability and love.
