"Lemon is one of the sweetest, gentlest, goofiest and most loving dogs ever..."

Lemon came into the New Hope Dog Rescue in July of 2022. After she was looked at by the vet, it was discovered that the state of her teeth was going to be the biggest hurdle in her health journey.

Initially, Lemon had a family that was going to care for her. But a series of x-rays revealed that her extreme dental needs were going to be beyond their financial capabilities.

Lemon had all of her teeth present and accounted for, but the front half of her mouth was severely impacted. Her baby teeth and her adult teeth were all competing for space and some were crammed under her gums.

Lemon was referred to the Western College of Veterinary medicine because the New Hope Dog Rescue’s partner vet decided her care was beyond their abilities at the time.

Lemon was scheduled for surgery soon after. But fixing her jaw was no easy feat. During the initial surgery, more x-rays revealed that she will need a second surgery and, possibly, even a third.

Through it all, Lemon remained one of the sweetest, gentlest, goofiest and most loving dogs ever and everyone who met her absolutely fell in love!

"She goes everywhere with her foster mom!"

If Lemon did not receive the necessary surgeries her impacted teeth would eventually erode the bones of her jaw, causing so much pain that it would lead to her euthanasia.

In her foster home, Lemon is living her best life ever, where she can enjoy her favorite activities – chewing on bones and playing tug-of-war with her foster sister Poppy. She goes everywhere with her foster mom and even made an appearance at a Santa photoshoot – a fundraiser run by New Hope Dog Rescue.

At one time, Lemon’s fate might have looked rather grim. But with the help of generous TagsforHope supporters like you, we provided a grant that helped fund Lemon’s surgeries. She is now free to look for her forever home, where she can be loved and share her joy for life!
