"She suffered from mange, yeast and was significantly underweight"

Pepper was taken into animal services when her owner was arrested and there was no one else who could care for her.

She had active mites and wounds all over her body. She also suffered from mange, yeast and was significantly underweight – all indications of severe neglect.

Underdog Animal Rescue provided the intervention services for Pepper and immediately placed her with a loving foster family who would be able to meet her high demand needs.

Based on her teeth and playful energy, Pepper was estimated to be about 2 years old – so it was especially important that she recovers and lives the long life still ahead of her.

Pepper only has about 5% of fur because of the mange and yeast and it is likely that she is in unbearable pain due to her wounds and other afflications. Her foster mom is treating Pepper with daily medicated baths, antibiotics and painkillers to help manage her recovery.

But little Pepper is thriving in the foster home and is enjoying lots of playtime with the other dogs!

"It was unthinkable that young Pepper might have been euthanized..."

For Underdog, it was unthinkable that young Pepper might have been euthanized without this intervention, especially given that her condition is curable.

Her recovery is painful and the medication is expensive, but Pepper has so much love to give. Once she is all better, her little paws will truly be unstoppable!

Lucky for Pepper, mange, yeast and wounds can be cured for good and her fur will soon grow back healthier than ever. After a couple of months in her loving foster home, Pepper will be ready to begin her search for a forever home.

Considering her age, and the popularity of her breed – that search won’t be long!

Thanks to the contributions of TagsforHope supporters like you and the tireless work of rescue staff and volunteers, Pepper will soon meet her forever family who will love her bits!
