Perdita is a 17 week old Dalmatian puppy who came to Furry Kids Refuge with a heart murmur. She has been in foster care since March 2024.
When Perdita first arrived she was timid and scared of just about everything. But that changed very quickly, once she was given the freedom to explore. She is now a very energetic puppy with a very good sniffer – typically used to find something to chew on!
After further examination was done on her heart, it was discovered that Perdita has PDA (a form of congenital heart disease that can result in heart failure). Due to this she requires surgery quickly, because the more time passes, the worse it gets.
Perdita is enjoying life with her foster family and patiently waiting for her heart surgery, scheduled for the end of May 2024. After successfully undergoing repair, she will be in recovery for a month requiring her to stay calm.

Perdita absolutely loves everyone she meets – humans and other pups included! She lives with her foster parents, their 5-year old boy Ryker (who adores her!) and three other pups.
The youngest pup, Rocky, has quickly become a friend and a mentor to Perdita. He follows her around to make sure she doesn’t get into any trouble and moves her away from danger. They play and romp around in the backyard and cuddle on the couch when they’re done.
She has also become the highlight of Ryker’s day! He introduces her to everyone they come across, she lays in his lap while he plays video games and even sleeps in his bed at night.
But Perdita’s trouble isn’t all over yet. Sadly, she might have further complications due to an obstruction of blood flow from the heart to the lungs. Her 30 day post-op check up will show more results regarding that, after which she will be spayed and will become available for adoption by July at the latest.
This sweet, spunky girl might have a heart condition, but she hasn’t let it stop her yet! Thanks to the generous support of TagsforHope lovers like you, Perdita now has a strongest chance ever at a happy and long life with a forever family!
