"Pinky was entirely non-weight bearing on her left hind leg..."

Pinky came to Austin Humane Society (AHS) after she was found hit by a car. Both of her hind legs were broken and caused her a lot of pain.

The fractures were repaired offsite by an AHS vet partner. After that, Pinky went right into foster care for her recovery. Once she is all better, she will go back to AHS for her spay surgery.

Before her surgery, Pinky was entirely non-weight bearing on her left hind leg so she could not walk at all. Her other health issues included hookworms, which caused diarrhea and vaginitis. This is a lot to deal with for a 3-month old pup!

As part of her care at AHS, Pinky received a de-worming treatment for the hookworms, as well as antibiotics for the vaginitis. She was also monitored constantly and given pain medication for her broken legs to keep her comfortable as she gets better.

According to the vet, Pinky will need an additional 2-3 months of recovery care after her surgeries, during which time she will stay in foster care and will be unavailable for adoption.

"..as gentle as they come!"

Despite being in a lot of pain, Pinky is the sweetest little girl! As a Pittie mix she is naturally a little shy and unsure of her new surroundings. But she is very eager for belly rubs and will close her eyes in bliss when somebody scratches her head.

Pinky prefers to eat her food directly out of someone’s hand and wags her tail madly for attention, whenever her caretakers are in the same room as her.

A vet technician described Pinky as affectionate and loving, constantly searching for attention. She also loves to look directly at the dedicated humans taking care of her, using her soulful puppy eyes to her advantage!

As a no-kill shelter, AHS was always dedicated to saving Pinky’s life no matter the cost. But with the help of generous TagsforHope supporters like you, we were able to provide a grant to relieve some of the costs and help give Pinky the best chance in life.

The good news is that Pinky already has an adoptive family lined up. All she needs now is to be medically cleared so she can go to her forever home!
