"Happy, goofy, loving, social little girl... a poster child for pit bull terriers!"
RooRoo came to k9.5 Rescue from another shelter, but previously she had a rather hard life as a stray.
Although RooRoo was on her own, nobody came to claim her. But nothing could deter her from being the sweetest and gentlest girl!
The first thing k9.5. Rescue did was take care of RooRoo’s urinary problems, which meant she had to be on antibiotics for 6 long weeks. She even had to relearn her potty habits – which she did like a champ!
But RooRoo wasn’t out of the water yet. The k9.5 Rescue staff soon noticed a limp. After a thorough examination by the vet and a series of x-rays, it quickly became apparent that RooRoo had a torn ACL and a luxating patella. It is a condition that simply means that her kneecap does not stay put continuously gets dislocated.
The only solution? A corrective surgery for both issues at the same time to reduce the strain on RooRoo. Doing the surgeries separately is not a viable option, because it always puts too much stress on the dog. But without it, RooRoo would be in excruciating pain and would not be able to be adopted because the surgeries would be very pricey for her new parents.

Despite it all, RooRoo is an absolute sweetheart and a poster child for pit bull terriers. She will melt anyone’s heart and break every stereotype or misunderstanding about the breed!
While she was well and able, she absolutely relished meeting the community. Along with the staff, RooRoo frequented community events and PetSmart runs where she spread lots of love and tail wags! RooRoo thinks cats are weird, but she absolutely loves kids and people in general. Her favourite activities include zooming around and wrestling with her best friend – a little Feist dog – and making dreamy eyes at her Great Pyrenees crush!
RooRoo’s surgery is serious, and the k9.5 Rescue already dipped into their emergency savings to be able to give RooRoo her very best chance. Doing so could put a significant strain on their ability to save even more pets.
But with the help of TagsforHope’s grant and thanks to our generous supports like you, RooRoo was able to successfully undergo surgery. She is currently in recovery with the love and care of the dedicated team at k9.5! As soon as she is done, RooRoo can begin sniffing out her fur-ever family – watch out, she’s got a great nose for warm hearts and homes filled with love!
