"She was taken to the vet immediately..."
Teena came into care of Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue at 10 weeks old as a stray. This sweet puppy has been viciously attacked by a larger dog and has substantial swelling and bleeding from her face and mouth.
She was taken to a vet immediately, where she was given pain medications and monitored 24/7. She was having trouble eating and was, understandably, very thin. An x-ray and a CT scan revealed a fractured jaw, so Teena went off to a dental specialist for further assessment.
Thankfully no surgery was needed at the time, but Teena wore a specialty muzzle to keep her jaw in place as it healed. Afterwards, another assessment was done to determine if she needed surgery to readjust any of her teeth that may have been altered by the trauma.
Teena’s dental surgery was scheduled for the end of 2024, after which she went off to recover in a caring foster home. She is doing absolutely amazing with her foster family!
She has another assessment to go through in the beginning of 2025, and if Teena receives the all-clear, this sweet girl will be available for adoption!
"Teena-Bean"
Teena – otherwise known as Teena-Bean – is a true wild child. She is curious about absolutely everything, she is very high energy and she wants to be your shadow!
Despite the issues with her mouth she chews on everything. She incredibly smart knows the commands “sit”, “kennel”, “bed” and “drop”, but is still working on “lay down” and her recall. Most importantly, she is so excited to be outside that she’d rather play ‘catch me if you can’ than come back home!
Teena is a comical and very sweet pup and she loves to cuddle every chance she gets! She goes into her kennel willingly and, after a bit of fuss, settles down for a cozy nap.
Teena and her foster sister Kiwi have become the best of friends, and they spend their days wrestling and snuggling. Teena is very interested in meeting new dogs, but shows submissive tendencies – most likely due to the attack she suffered.
She is an amazing pup who’s been through so much. But thanks to the support of TagsfoHope lovers, like you, she could receive the care she needed and is doing so well!
