Valentino came to BARC’s Rescue in Alberta, Canada from Texas. When he first arrived he was slightly nervous, but still wagged his tail happily and looked up at the team with his big, brown eyes.
It was apparent that Valentino had a hard life prior to coming to Canada. He had multiple scars covering his face and front legs, as well as a large burn mark on his spine. But he was very eager to meet his new foster family!
Despite all he has endured, Valentino is incredibly sweet, trusting, and extremely affectionate with people. He loves receiving affection, and quickly steals the hearts of everyone he meets.
He settled in his foster home, where his favorite thing is to snuggle up next to a person and gets lots of cuddles and love. He confidently adapts to new environments, loves soft, squeaky toys, and lots of warm hugs!
He also loves going for walks with his doggy siblings and meeting new friends around the neighborhood. He even improved in his manners and and training and would make an ideal fur-ever addition to any family!
"He deserves so much!"
Perhaps this is what made it so hard to hear that Valentino’s test results showed that he had cancer. Although his foster family in Edmonton is phenomenal, the search for his forever home would have to be postponed.
The type of cancer Valentino was diagnosed with had the chance to spread internally and it is extremely important that he has the masses on his skin removed – and soon.
Unfortunately, since the masses are located on his groin, the surgery is very tricky. The cancer has to be removed in a way that leaves enough healthy skin to be able to close up the wound and ensure that he can have normal use and function of that area post-surgery.
Thankfully, with the help of TagsforHope’s grant and thanks to our generous supporters like you, Valentino was able to get his surgery, receive skin reconstruction and the best aftercare!
Everyone who meets him agrees – Valentino deserves so much in life! With some treatment and TLC, he will be cleared for adoption and will go on to find his loving family in Canada.
